Our Research Center

Any attractive object is worth copying or imitated. Gemstones have been copied for the last 6000 years by a variety of materials which can be described as imitations, composite stones or synthetics.

A number of techniques are used to improve the colour and/or appearance of natural and synthetic gemstones. The purpose is to increase their beauty, desirability and hence, their saleability.

We, at GRL, can positively identify whether a gem has been subjected to any sort of treatment or not. We can identify whether a gem is Natural, synthetic / lab made, or an imitation.

Moreover, we can also positively identify & grade diamonds & diamond jewellery & if they have been subjected to any treatments.
